Sub: - Trommel Screen |
A trommel screen is a rotary screen that is used to separate materials on the basis of size. It is mainly used in the solid waste processing industries and mineral processing. The oversize material is separated from the undersized material.
The trommel screen consists of a long cylindrical drum that has many holes/openings of the size of separation required. The holes help in the classification of material and when the drum rotates it only allows the material that is smaller than the size of the holes to fall through while the oversized materials flow out through the other side of the trommel.
Microteknik is the leading manufacturer and supplier of trommel screens with installations across the country. Our trommels have capacities from 10 Ton per hour up to 50 Ton per hour. The trommels are extremely robust, easy to use and highly efficient in separating municipal solid waste MSW, legacy waste, soil, compost, aggregates, and other materials. Easy drum changes for optimal separation, rugged components, strong manufacturing and R&D backed by Microteknik top-notch service makes these trommels a versatile solution to manage organic waste.
Municipal Waste and Legacy Waste: - Usage of trommel screen |
Trommel screens are vital for the municipal waste and legacy waste separation in the initial screening process to sort the sizes of solid waste. Trommel screens are used to separate organic and inorganic waste materials to improve the composting process and preparation of RDF. This allows preparation of high-quality compost free of impurities and clean RDF by removing the inorganic materials such as dust and muck hence increasing the quality of fuel. Trommels are widely used in processing of Legacy waste wherein inserts, good earth and RDF is separated for effective disposal.
Advantages of Trommel Screen:
Trommel Screens product details:

Item Code: JKA-230MSW A trommel machine in Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management is a cylindrical, rotating drum equipped with perforated screens. It efficiently sorts and classifies waste materials by size, allowing for the separation of recyclables, organics, and larger items from the waste stream. Trommel machines are essential tools for optimizing MSW handling and promoting sustainable waste management practices.
The need of trommel machines in Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management is indispensable due to the complex and diverse nature of urban waste. These machines play a critical role in several aspects of MSW handling and processing. Trommel machines are also crucial for preparing waste for further processing. Once materials are separated and contaminants removed, they can be more easily processed into secondary products. This includes shredding or compacting materials for recycling or converting organic matter into compost, which can be used to enrich soil in agriculture and landscaping. The need for trommel machines in MSW management lies in their ability to streamline waste handling, enhance recycling efforts, reduce landfill waste, and prepare materials for further processing. By aiding in the separation and classification of waste, these machines contribute to more sustainable and environmentally friendly waste management practices, promoting resource recovery and waste reduction.
Operation
Feeding Hopper Unit: Municipal Solid Waste is feed into the machine through an in feed hopper.
This is where waste is initially loaded onto the trommel for processing.
Feed Conveyors: A conveyor system transports the waste materials onto the trommel screen. This system ensures a consistent and steady flow of waste into the machine.
Trommel Screen: Trommel screen is installed in a small angle with the input end a little higher than the output end. Material fed into the trommel screen is lifted up by the rotation and aerated as it falls back down.
This action is repeated with each revolution along the length of the drum. The smaller fractions pass through the screen openings while the larger fractions tumble towards its eventual exit at the rear of the drum.
Process Conveyor: Smaller particles like fines and smaller recyclables, fall through the holes from the Trommel drum and are usually directed in process conveyor.
Reject Conveyor: After materials are separated by the trommel, they are directed towards specific discharge conveyor belts.
These Conveyor guide the materials to their respective sorting or processing areas.
Control Panel: A control panel allows operators to manage and monitor the machine's operation.
It includes controls for the motor, speed settings, and other operational parameters.
Basic Features
Simple and mechanically more robust.
